Passion for satisfaction generally begins and ends at the threshold of the carnal. Hafiz suggests that our enthusiasm needs to embrace unearthly delights with as much fervor as these fevers hard wired in our bodies. Frankly, I think a new schematic might be required for people to get this heated over spiritual ecstasies. Even with knowing that the thrilling scope of such an enlightened state far exceeds any temporal experience in scale, it is not going to mean much to those who have not tasted that for themselves. It will mean even less to those who hold fast their need for speed because deep passions are cultivated over time.
